Mauritius was founded about fifty years ago by Jurgen Raberg — a leather maker himself, who understood the finishing, the polishing, the cutting and the workmanship that make a great leather piece.
It has since grown into one of the largest leather companies in Europe, producing for many labels as well as its own.
THE APPROACH
The company is now run by Jurgen's children, Christian and Katrin, who grew up with leather and bring a modern eye to a solid European business.
The founding formula hasn't changed: commercially exciting designs, unmatched quality control, and pricing that stays fair.
MADE RESPONSIBLY
All of the leather Mauritius uses, including lamb fur, is a by-product of the meat industry. No animals are killed for their skins, and the company doesn't use exotic skins.
Production partners are audited under the BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) code, which covers fair wages, working hours, safety and a ban on child and forced labor. A team of 16 Mauritius quality inspectors checks and stamps every single garment before it leaves the factory.
