EXFOLIATE RIGHT

So there’s a ton to learn about exfoliating. From when it started back in ancient Egypt to the actual scientific theory behind why we do it to all the different kinds of exfoliates that exist.

But, let’s be honest.

We’re busy women and just want someone to tell us the most effective products on the market and how to use them.

Quick and simple does the trick and if we’re going to exfoliate, we might as well do it right!

SO, WHY DO WE EXFOLIATE?

Exfoliating is very important, especially in the winter when our cells die faster because of dehydration from the outside air and indoor heating! It gets that top layer of dead skin cells off our bodies and brings the new young ones to the surface for younger looking skin!

EXFOLIATE HOW TO

A huge secret to exfoliating to the max is when your skin is still dry, use a dry brush or loofah and begin to brush in circular motions starting at the feet and working up. This will loosen the already dead skin cells that are just sitting and waiting to fall.

After, let warm (NOT hot) water open the pores of your skin, which will make it easy to get all the dirt and grime out. We want to free up those beautiful clogged pores of yours and hot water will just scald the skin, even if it doesn’t feel like it.

This is where you gently apply your product of choice! And don’t be too aggressive. The harder you scrub won’t make your skin cleaner. Scrubbing at the skin too hard or with a product that’s too harsh can cause the already oil-deprived skin to redden and flake. And, don’t forget easily missed parts like the feet, elbows, and mid-back!

After, rinse off with cold water. Brrrr! YES! Cold water will close the pores back up so it’s harder for dirt to find its way in!

Bonus Tip: Try limiting exfoliating to one to two times a week and switching to a scrub that exfoliates as well as polishes with natural agents that will make your skin soft.
