Gola was founded in 1905 by Joseph Leeson & Sons, purveyors of "all kinds of athletic goods." The name came from the football boots it made — with a detour into army boots through the war years.
It wasn't until the 1960s that Gola moved into trainers, having already outlasted two world wars.
THE HARRIER
The Gola Harrier launched in 1968 — a leather upper with the green Wingflash logo down the side. It sold in excess of 6,000 pairs a week and became a fixture of British subculture.
Today's styles keep that shape and that stripe, updated with current colour, suede and texture.
